Centennial Events

Please help us celebrate SMC's 100th birthday over the next year.

SMC will be hosting several events to which students, parents, faculty, staff, donors and friends of the college are invited. Below are just a few of those.

Party on the Plaza

09/09/10 ( 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm) SMC will hold a campus party during the evening of Sept. 9 at 5 pm in the field behind the Burgess Student Center, adjacent to Powell Mill Road, to celebrate the inauguration of College President Dr. Colleen Keith, which will be held the following day.

Convocation and Presidential Inauguration

09/10/10 ( 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm) SMC will celebrate its annual Convocation Ceremonies on Sept. 10, kicking off the beginning of its 2010-2011 academic year. Also being celebrated at that time will be the inauguration of Dr. Colleen P. Keith as SMC's 7th president.

President Keith on the Awake With Drake Radio Show

09/10/10 ( 8:00 am) SMC's Sept. 10 guest on the Awake With Drake Show on WOLT 103.3 FM will be our President, Dr. Colleen Keith. Tune in to the show to learn more about SMC and hear the latest news about the college and its programs as it begins its Centennial celebration!

2010 Founders Day Celebration

10/25/10 ( 8:00 pm) SMC will hold its first annual Founders Day Celebration on Oct. 25, featuring international pianist Teresa Walters. More details about this event will be posted as they are determined.

2010 Homecoming / Family Day

11/13/10 ( 8:00 am) The 2010 Homecoming at SMC will be a special one as it will be one of the first signature events tied in with the celebration of the College's Centennial Celebration.

Coach Brookman on the Awake With Drake Radio Show

11/16/10 ( 8:00 pm) SMC's Nov. 16 guest on the Awake With Drake Show on WOLT 103.3 FM will be our newest men's basketball coach, who will be announced this summer, along with athletic director Mark Perdue. Tune in to the show to learn more about the new coach and what SMC basketball, and the Pioneer athletic program as a whole, has in store for the upcoming season.

Darryl Van Leer Performance

02/08/11 ( 7:30 pm) Hollywood actor Darryl Van Leer will serve as a guest speaker at SMC for Black History Month on February 8 at 7:30 pm in Camak Auditorium.
