Volleyball Defeats Catawba Valley in Three
HICKORY, NC – The Spartanburg Methodist College volleyball team beat
Catawba Valley CC 3-0 (25-13, 25-12, 25-15) Saturday afternoon at the Multipurpose Complex on the campus of CVCC in Hickory, NC.
Sophomore Tiffany Dean (Westminster, SC/West Oak HS) led all hitters with a .682 hitting percentage with 19 kills on 26 attempts and only one error. Dean also chipped in two solo blocks.
Other contributors include freshman Haley Cannon (Hickory, NC/Hickory HS) posted nine kills in her hometown crowd, respectively. Sophomore Kayla Potter (McDonough, GA/Union Grove HS) led the team with 12 digs, freshman Morgan Dacus (Greenville, SC/Southside Christian HS) had 18 assists and freshman Ashley Trunk (Columbia, SC/Ben Lippen HS) had three aces.
The Pioneers are currently 3-3 and will be back in action this Friday when the take on Lenoir CC on the road. Saturday they open up Region X play against Pitt CC in Greenville, NC.
Spartanburg Methodist College has 14 intercollegiate teams that compete in Region X of the National Junior College Athletic Association, which includes colleges in the Carolinas, Virginia, and West Virginia.
