Foley Finishes 42nd at Covered Bridge Open
Men finish 10th overall
BOONE, NC – Sophomore Jessica Foley (Little Mountain, SC/Mid-Carolina HS)
finished 42nd overall Friday at the Covered Bridge Open which was hosted by Appalachian State University in Boone, NC. Foley finished the race in 20:27 amongst runners from several NCAA Division I and II schools.
Other Pioneer finishers in the top 100 include Melissa Dobbins (83rd), Tori Richards (95th) and Sarah Arms (97th). The women finished 10th overall in the 11-team field.
The men’s cross country team also finished 10th overall in their 12-team field that also included runners from NCAA Div. I and II schools alike.
Michael Rounds (Bradley, SC/Ninety-Six HS) finished 61st for the Pioneer men with a time of 28:22. Jeff Wilson (64th), Josh Brooks (73rd), Stephen Burgess (84th), Shane Kyzer (87th), Wes Scott (93rd) and Tavus Thompson (100th) were amongst the Pioneer runners to finish in the top 100.
The men and women cross country teams will be back in action this Saturday when they compete in the 2008 Eye Opener Invitational held at the Milliken Corporate Campus in Spartanburg.
Spartanburg Methodist College has 14 intercollegiate teams that compete in Region X of the National Junior College Athletic Association, which includes colleges in the Carolinas, Virginia, and West Virginia.
Spartanburg Methodist College is in its 98th year of providing quality education to students in a Christian environment. More than 90 percent of SMC graduates continue their education at other institutions of higher learning.
